things i’ve decided to do

i know new year’s resolutions are stupid. so i don’t make them. generally. but new year’s is always a great time to start new things. mostly because of that whole “leave everything behind you” thing.

here are some things i’m doing this year:

– wearing my good “office” clothes. i have suits. sort of. i should wear them. while i’m young!

– walking the dog EVERY EFFING MORNING and night. for, like, half an hour. yeah. hardcore.

– going to the gym. okay, yet to start this THIS year. but i started it in december, so it’s kind of a continuing trend.

– cooking. more. recipes from the new york times. and stuff. i.e. making lasagna tonight. yeah that’s right.

– not acting like i enjoy the company of people whose company i do not enjoy. (it’s harder than it sounds. my sister gave me this one. we’re NICE GIRLS. so this is extremely difficult for us.)

– listening to music i like on the way to work. from my ipod.

– corollary: updating my ipod. and being more generally tech savvy. ack.

how are those?

“listening to music i like on the way to work. from my ipod.”

The best thing you can do for yourself before the drudgery of the workday. Query: why would you listen to music you *don’t* like?

How do you do it? Any advice?

there’s something that happens when you’re really convicted to do something. i know you’ve had it, because i’ve seen you do things when you felt the conviction to. sometimes you have to force yourself to do things, and the habit will follow. sometimes you just have to think about the benefits every day for a week, and then you’ll feel the need to pursue the action afterwards.
and sometimes you just bring treats along on the walk. dogs love treats.
also, you and i both know how great doggy daycare can be. 🙂
